2Rt Mate: Virginity, Perception and Stoicism

Pramayama.com Newsletter-
Hi friend,
This year has been going by at a mad pace.
Three trips to Europe and a complete pivot on Pranayama.com.
I must say that swimming in the ocean daily is a lifesaver.

Back home for now working 24/7 on Pranayama.com. Need to sleep occasionally – In over achiever mode.

“We live in a world where losing your phone is more dramatic than losing your virginity”

Data on virginity is all over the board. Very difficult to track but when I ran across the above statement, I couldn’t help but think, yes this could be true. It’s quite possible that the Almighty Phone is taking over more than we think…

Nomophobia: “no-mobile-phone phobia”
•Phantom Vibration Syndrome: Feeling like your phone is vibrating when it’s not.
•Textiety: Anxiety caused by waiting for a text or notification.
•Technostress: Stress caused by over-reliance on or overuse of technology, including phones.

It’s worth a thought, or better yet, take a look at this weeks book referral below.

“You touch the world with your perspective”

The above saying really works for me. How do I want to touch the world?  Am I wallowing in my wounded masculinity and reaching for anger to feel a sense of false control?

Taking Action:
I repeat the above saying with a deep, slow inhale & exhale (my breath of choice usually.) Then I pull out my torn up back pocket book: The Obstacle Is The Way by Ryan Holiday. Stoicism at its best. Thank you Ryan.

Stay Prepared:
Know what to say to yourself that will put you where you should be. Know the breathing technique that works for you. ALWAYS carry your go to book with you. A book is better than the phone.

This Weeks Read: Atomic Habit  by James Clear

This book is going on a special shelf that I use for books that I go back to on a regular basis. It’s just absolutely packed full of easy to implement steps on how to break old habits and start new ones.

My current favorite lesson is Habit Stacking.
Track down one of your favorite, long-term habits and add something small to it either at the beginning or the end.

I take walks every morning at first light, sometimes before.
Now I take my walks, but without my phone and I’m much better for it. Habit Stacking
