Hi Friend,

Key to helping me understand what’s going on in the world today, especially politics, history, economics, psychology, and philosophy, I dig into multiple different research modalities.

Over the past 10 months, I’ve been regularly listening to Dr. Roy Casagranda on YouTube. His unapologetic, unfiltered style of presenting complex ideas is not only refreshing, but also deeply encouraging. He speaks with conviction, clarity, and a kind of intellectual honesty that’s increasingly rare.

His personal bio is here.

Another reason why I bring Dr. Casagranda up is because I’m currently rereading At Hell’s Gate: A Soldier’s Journey by Claude AnShin Thomas.

He killed hundreds of people in Vietnam, many with his bare hands and wiped out whole villages. I was deeply moved by his story, especially how he was taught how to write down what he felt as a way to heal and how he found Buddhism via Thích Nhất Hạnh. *Plum Village

I have seen him lecture twice in the early 2000s.

Sometimes I find that when I mix two extreme elements together such as Dr. Roy Casagranda and Claude AnShin Thomas there is a deep opening that allows growth.

May you find the same.

Things I’ve Learned

Consistency can be my greatest asset or my greatest downfall.

Either way, when I am considering either or, it is insightful.
